MOVIE



Pandrum is a thrilling new science fiction move about horrific events that take place among astronauts trapped on a spaceship.



Astronauts Lieutenant Payton (Dennis Quaid) and Corporal Bower (Ben Foster) awaken in a hyper-sleep chamber aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft. They wade up disoriented, with no memory of who they are or what their mission is supposed to be.



The two men believe that they're the only people on board ---until they begin to hear a low rumbling sound from the belly of the spaceship.



With Payton staying behind to guide him with a radio transmitter,Bower ventures deep into the spaceship to find out two other astronauts on board. To his horror,he also discovers that something mysterious on the ship is hunting them,hell-bent on making sure that nobody survives.



As the spacecraft's shocking secrets are gradually revealed,the astronauts begin to realise that their own surrvival is more important than they could ever have imagined.

Yellow FangIf you were to talk about the latest and coolest Thai indie bands, you'd have to mention pop trio Yellow Fang.


Besides being one of the very few all-girl Thai groups to not be influenced by the current K-pop invasion, Yellow Fang also write all their own songs and play their own instruments.


During their live performances,Yellow Fang ---25-years-old singer and guitarist Pimporn Metchanun(pang), 25-years-old bassist Saitarn Karncharanwong (pui) and 22-years-old drummer Praewa Chirapravati Na Ayudhya (prae)--- play with an exciting energy that's impossible to ignore.


As well as playing regularly at Bangkok's most happenning venues and festivals, Yellow Fang recently released an EP that was engineered by Teddy from Flure. Their songs "Valentino," I'm a Feeder and True Blue are already being played regularly on indie radio and the band has been nominated for Fat Radio's Best New Artist award.

Court King....

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal is considered to be one of the world's best player. He was ranked the No.1 player by the Association of Tennis Professionals from August 2008 to July 2009.


Since turing pro at the age of 15, Rafael has had a remarkable sports career. The 23-year-old player has been called the "King of clay court" because of hes special skills on clay surfaces.

Rafael hokds the record for the longest single-surface winning streak on clay courts. Recently Rafael has proven that he cam play just as well on other surfaces by becomeing the first player to hold Grand Slam titles on clay, grass and hard courts.
From September 26 to October 4, Thai tennis fans have a chance to see Rafael play at Impact Arena during the PTT Thailand Open. Rafael will go up against top players like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon in the competition.

Located In the heart to Bangkok inside the compound of the former Pre-Cadet School on Rama IV Road, Virapol Gym has trained thousands of foreigners in muay Thai durint its five years of operation. People have come from countries as diverse as Chile, China and Japan to train, with many trainees choosing to stay at the gym during their time in Bangkok.

Virapol Gym can accommodate up to 50 people at a time in separate male and female dormitories. About half of the students that come to the gym are female.

NO PAIN, NO GAIN

Gym owner Nikom Pheisiri, 40, is a former Thai boxer who has spet many years teaching muay Thai around theworld. He said that the school trains aspiring boxers to be capable muay Thai fighters.

"We have no intention of withholding any knowledge of rticks," Nikom said. "Muay Thai uses all parts of the body, and it's tough to learn for students who are really serious about it."

ALL AGES

The majority of students at the Virapol Gym want to take up boxing seriously, and many wish to eventually become trainers in their own countries. Trainees usually spend from between a week to a few months studying at the gym.

Nikom said that becoming a good muay Thai fighter requires a long period of training. He also noted that foreigners generally start at a much older age than Thai fighter. who usually start training when they are 6 or 7 years old and retire at around the age of 25.

NON-STOP WORKOUT

Each round of training at the Virapol Gym starts with a Thai oil massage, a warm-up and a 5 to 10 kilometre run to relax the muscies. Trainees then work out with jumping rope, followed by shadow-boxing and heavy-bag boxing.

Next is Thai pad training, which involves practising a variety of punches, kicks, khee and elbow strikes with a trainer. "Trainees do the same things everyday, "Nikom said." If we find that any of them are good enough, we send them to test their abillity at the Lumpini Boxing Stadium.

Al Brenneca, 52, was attacked by a shark in Florida in 1976,
but he's now calling for sharks to be protected.

I'm here to lobby for a bill to save the sharks,
"Brenneca said." I lost my arm in a shark attack, so it's a very powerful statement.

















The Pew Environtment Group research centre bought
Brenneca and a group of eight other survivors to Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, to lobby senators to pass a ruling placing tough restrictions on shark fishing.

Dying Delicacy
More than a third of all shark species are endangered.
This is in part due to are cut off before the body is thrown back into the ocean.
Shark fin soup is a delicacy through out Asia, where it is in high demand. Around 70 million sharks die in the ocean from fishing each year.
Shark attack on humans, however are very rare, with only around 60 to 100 attacks per year worldwide.

Natureal Behaviour
Krishan Thompson is a 44-year-old banker who was attacked by a bull shark in 2001 in Bahamas. Now wearing an artificial limb, Thompson has become an activist, fighting for the survival of sharks.
" People might wonder why I want to protect sharks,considering that I was attacked by one,
"Thomson said." But sharks have been around for more than 400 million years
---since before dinosaurs--- and what the shark did to me was just part of its natural behaviour.

Happy Together
Thomson believes that people should leave sharks alone and that it's dangerous to upset the balance of nature.
"I don't want to find out what life would be like if shark ceased to exist," Thomson said." I believe that it would have a negative effect on the human race if we killed off all the sharks.

Blood brothers.Local boy band Blood of Youth --previously shortened to B.O.Y

but now known as B-O-Y --don't focus on mesmerising dance moves like a lot of other groups. But the four good-looking members --Kritsanagun Maneephakapan (Teng Neung), 21, Leo Saussay, 20,
Kitkasem Mcfadden (James), 20, Natcha Jnatapan (Mouse) , 18
--have managed to win over pop fans with their upbeat songs and touching ballads.

For their second album, the guys have stuck with their successful formula, releasing their lively new single "Darling" with a video featuring smooth and simple choreography.
Their sweet new balled "Ngao Jung Loei (Really Lovely)" has also impressed listeners.

Thai champ races to the top

a compoetition in Malaysia,"Feem said. " Since that moment, I've dreamed of
standing on a podium myself "

Need For Speed
By the age of 7, Feem was already racing motorcycles. Since 1998,
young rider has become a local champion in the 110cc, 112cc, 125cc and
150cc categories. Once he had these achievement under his belt, Feem worked toward
competing internationally.
In 2006, Feem finally made history by being the first Thai motorcycle racer to qualify for the World Grand Prix in Japan.
" That was my most memorable competition so far because it was my first
World Grand Prix, " Feem said. " I managed to finist 10th in the competition.

Going Inter
After entering the Moto GP World Competition, Feem decided to move to Barcelona, where his Thai Honda
PTT SAG team is supported by the Stop and Go Team.

"We have a team in Spain, and there are lots of racetracks in Europe, " Feem said. " Living in Spain makes it easier for me to travel to lots of competitions. "

Feem had to spend as much time adjusting to his new environment as he did preparing for the European
competitions.
I"ve lived in Spain for three years bow, but the first year was hard, learning Spanish and getting used to the food, " he said." I felt pretty lonely at first because I spent most of my time in gyms, on racetracks or
travelling throgh hotels and airports.



I always do my best.

Top Ten
Feem still dreams of making the top of the world ranking. " My goal is to reach the top 10 this year, " he said."
Sometimes I feel discouraged, but I haven't given up my dream to be on the podium.
The toung racer always appreciates the support he gets from his fans.
" Whenever I race, there are lots of people watching and supporting me, so I always do my best, "Feem said."

Champion Advice
Feem believes that rookie racers who want to succeed internationally need to have a genuine love for speed. " To be successful, you need strong determination, and you really have to love riding motorcycles at high speed, " he said." But you should never race outside of a proper racetrack "
